Family of Poppets

After seeing Claudine Hellmuth on Marta Stewart making these cool sitting people, I knew I had to raid Dad's garage for aluminum flashing, and my fabric stash. And of course I had to do the whole family and give them to them on Christmas day. Though no doubt mum and dad will log in and see theirs here first. Hey dad!!!!!

The last few days

The last few days has been a busy one. Friday started off at the Zoo for Imogens end of year excursion for school. It was a stinking hot day here in Melbourne, and of course most of the animals were asleep.
That afternoon, Barry and Imogen went up to McDonalds for dinner, when the lovely As&&^$ banged into our car and drove leaving an $800 bill,
Thank you and hope you have a horrible christmas. (thankfully insured, however paying the excess at this time of the year is a bitter pill to swallow)
That night all was forgotton with a fantastic dinner with a bunch of wonderful women I proudly call friends who I have got to know over this year from school. Never known a bunch of girls to laugh so much so thank you!!!
Then Saturady Barrys work break up party that will have to be next post. Lot of fun and a very long day.
Sunday a road trip down the glorious great ocean rd. Time to just chill and scourer rock pools for wonderful undersea creatures. And to have good fish'n'chips.
In between a few last minute making christmas cards and a house warming card for Lynne who has just moved to the countryside 5 mins from here. Having morning tea with the girls tomorrow morning out at Lynnes new home. Anyway its now 1.10am in the morning, I am totally exhausted after making 60 gingerbread men for Christmas and for Imogens little school mates, so I am now going to hit the hay and will update more later this week.

Wonderful foil

Yesterday whilst wrapping something in foil in the kitchen I wondered what alcohol ink would look like on it. I had to play didnt I.

I scrunched up the foil, flattened it out and smeared the ink all over. It gives it a beautiful lolly wrapper look.

So what is one to do with coloured foil?? Make some ATC's of course. So today I did.

I decided I would play with my Zettiology and Paper Artsy stamps and do something a little odd I guess.

Anyway must dash and go and pick up the girl from school..

This is todays waste of time. Over 6 hours of making, baking and breaking gingerbread. I know I could have gone out and bought a beautifully decorated house with nothing to do but admire it. But I had this wonderful romantic idea of making my own. How hard could it be? All the chefs on TV make it all look easy yeah. Yeah right!!! So it all started at midday, with great visions of a building a house from scratch. First side panels cooked, not bad, bit dodgie just needs a few minor adjustments and it will be perfect I say. mmmm should have stopped there. 2nd lot out of the oven and snap. Bugger bugger. More in the oven and more issues. Anyhow construction time. Royal icing made, and yep not glueing the darn things. Out with the pritt glue, it usually sticks everything, everything but gingerbread. So I totally go over board with the icing, and half way through give up with the house looking perfect, well actually couldnt give a S$#@ what it looks like, so me and Imogen just decide to do whatever and here is the finished masterpiece that wasted my whole day. I think I will stick to paper in future...And never ever make another house as long as I shall live.

Aussie stampers cyber challenges

Last night on Aussie stampers had their very 1st cyberstamp. The wonderful Coby set us 4 challenges to complete before Monday.
1st challenge-Christmas Sparkle.
Make a card that sparkles.
2ns challenege-The 4 seasons.
Create a set of 4 inchies that celebrate the seasons.
Inchies are new to me so I found this quite challenging, especially working with molten opals on such a small scale. Yep a few sticky molten opal fingers later... Done!!! I decided to put them on an ATC so I wouldnt loose the little things.
3rd challenge-Mini rainbow. Create and ATC using your fav Monochromatic colour scheme.
4th challenge- create a papercraft project using an uninked stamp from your collection. I decided to play with some alcohol inks and use a Zettiology stamp that I got a few weeks back and make another moo card...
Ah challenges complete now onto the next great ATC challenge over on Blue Bazaar.
Here is the link http://aussiestampers.informe.com/forum/index.php?sid=ae293d7aba5ef1edaac06dead0e79630 for the only non buisness aussie forum, come and join us and happy stamping...

J WARD

On Saturday we went up to Ararat to visit J ward which was a jail for the criminally insane. A very interesting place, full of horrific stories and tales.
Of course I was taking photos left right and centre, and it wasnt until I went up to mums the next day and plugged the camera into Dads computer when I noticed an anomly in this pic. Its seems I have taken a photo of another presence in the autopsy room. Enlarge the pic to see more detail but its all there for the naked eye to see.
After the hairs on the back of my neck went down, I emailed J ward with this pic and to see if others who have visited capture the same sort of thing, or if they could explain it furthur.
I recieved an email back from them today, and they will be putting the pic up for discussion with its members, and if they discover anything they will let me know. Wouldnt it be great if someone out there actually knows who this could be. Spooky but also very interesting...

Bouquet of tissue paper flowers

I made this for a friend who just had a beautiful baby girl last week. The are made using just tissue paper and pipe cleaners and a bit of ribbon for a pretty bow. I think I am going to have to make one for my scrap room..

A couple of layouts

A couple of layouts I did awhile ago. The winter one is when we had some serious snow in July on my daughters birhday. Pic was taken at the Botanical Gardens. (wished it was my garden). Sorry about the terrible pic of the LO.
Fire works LO was when I was trying to learn my camera last year in Canberra at the army's "Beat retreat" at the war memorial. Not the best pics, but it is a point and shoot camera after all. My inpsiration for this has to come from Loretta Grayson whose work I admire greatly.

ATC's

Over the school hoildays I went to the local antique shop and boughts some gorgeous vintage/heritage photos. I mainly got them for ATC's but would love the scrap them now.
Here are 3 that I have played around with so far..

Yesterday went to Paperific with mum and bought some gorgeous stamps which I have been playing around with today making some more moo cards for a swap.
Also today we have been making a little halloween scene on the kitchen dresser
with a witches cauldron boiling with smoke, spiders, finger nails, and skeletal hands. I cut out witches, bats and scared cats out of black cardstock and stuck them on the wall, you can find all sorts of wonderful templates on marthastewart.com. I will share a photo later this week.
Thats all for me for now..

Cute little house

While I was up in Townsville about a month ago looking after the shop Scrapbook Shenanigans for Michele, I decorated a Doodlebug chipboard house. It was so much fun painting and decorating the windows with sheer muslin curtains and using soft muted colours. The only thing that wasnt so much fun, was punching out a million or so!!!! egg shapes, shaping them in your palm, and placing a little double sided foam square on each and every one, then placing on the roof as tiles. However the time and effort paid off with a cute little tacktile roof. Thats all for me, working on some vintage ATC's, and will share them with you once I have finished them...

Finally an update

Hello all, yep back onto the blog thing, after a few people have asked why I havent updated it. Well it all comes down to being slack and nothing else really. And that I really dont know what I am doing so until I learn all the ins and outs of proper blogging, I am sorry this will be a rather boring blog to look at with some pics and a bit of text thrown in for good measure.

What have I been playing with lately. On BB the lovely Monique suggested a Moo card swap, rather intriqued I was so with a bit of detective work they are much smaller than an ATC measurements are 28mm by 70mm.

A very small canvas to work with but fun and challenging all the same. So here is my 1st pic for my updated blog which all going well shall be updated reguarly.

Until next time

Sarah
